Adrian Morilla is a native of the National Capital Region of Manila Philippines. The now 22 year old was born in 1989 at one of Manila’s oldest hospitals – Chinese General Hospital. It was only a matter of years until he stumbled into the Pasig City Muay Thai school, one chapter of many nationwide gyms. However, a few things stood out about this gym and about Morilla. The Pasig City chapter was the host gym of the nation’s best Thai-boxers, and by the time Morilla came through their doors he was already a U.S. citizen.
Morilla frequently visited his land of birth throughout his childhood, and would train twice a day six days a week with the national Philippine Muay Thai team during his visits. He met with Billy Alumno or one of the veteran team members on a daily basis for mitt work, thai pads and sparring. During these visits, Morilla would compete in local fight nights against boys from different parts of the city.
When he was not abroad, Adrian found various gyms all over California for training. At 15, he began training with Lester Griffin in Hemet, California and became a regular member at gyms such as Pro-am Kickboxing and Dojo Americana. After turning 18 he moved in with relatives in San Diego and found a home at Undisputed Training Center where he would fight a handful of times locally and in several Tijuana venues. He first met Alex Palma in 2009 when he fought one of Palma’s most prominent fighters and beat him in an impressive win. Palma recognized Morilla’s talent and potential, but it wasn’t until a year ago did the two meet again to form their team. Now with Palma’s guidance Morilla looks to climb the ranks of the Muay Thai world.
